Medworks will host its third free, dental clinic beginning at 7 a.m. Nov. 22 and Nov. 23 at the Huntington Convention Center, 300 Lakeside Ave. in Cleveland.
“More than 3 million Ohioans lack dental insurance, making this the number one unmet health need for low-income adults and children,” said Dr. Roger Hess, dental director at Medworks, in a news release. “People without dental coverage are far less likely to have regular preventive checkups, cleanings, or treat pain or other problems. Our organization is addressing these problems by providing 100% free dental care during the two-day clinic and connecting patients with ongoing options for care. These clinics serve as a safety net reducing both visits to the emergency room and the dispensing of opiate prescriptions.”
At the clinic, more than 500 local dental professionals will convene to provide screenings, cleanings, fillings and extractions for adults, and screenings, cleanings and sealants for children. Without dental insurance, treatments can range from $125 for a cleaning, $150 for a cavity filling, to $300 or more for an extraction, according to the release.
