Rabbi Donniel Hartman will serve as B’nai Jeshurun Congregation’s Weingold Guest Scholar from Dec. 6 to Dec. 8 at the synagogue, 27501 Fairmount Blvd. in Pepper Pike.

Starting with a Shabbat dinner at 5:30 p.m. and a lecture at 8 on Dec. 6, Hartman will discuss “What’s Jewish in a Jewish Democracy.” The dinner is $18 per person with a $50 family maximum. A service will precede the lecture at 7.

At 9 a.m. Dec. 7, Hartman will discuss “Nationalism and the Jewish Nation State.” Following the service and discussion, there will be a congregational luncheon, with another lecture on “Israel’s Nation State Law – A Careful Reading Analysis” at 1. There will also be a question-and-answer session.

At 9:30 a.m. Dec. 8, Hartman will discuss “Israel, the Palestinians and a Future for the Peace Process.” There will be a continental breakfast at 9.
